Spinning Earth
into Art
Hello, I’m Sharon Price!
I have been making functional pottery for the kitchen and home for over ten years.
It all started with a childhood obsession with Play-Doh. I had every color and all the gadgets that went with it. Out of all the different art mediums that I learned and explored while going to school, ceramics was the one that I always felt the closest to. I was fascinated by the unique characteristics of pottery and how it’s one of the only art forms that involves all the elements in nature: earth, air, water and fire.
The first time I threw on a wheel was in middle school. Even at a young age, I wanted to absorb everything that was taught to me. I took a few more classes through high school and then into college at Pasadena City College, where I was a student of the amazing Jim Gonzalez.
From there I took up learning more on my own. I was gifted a pottery wheel from my parents and over the years, with the help of my husband, built my own studio.
I have lived in the beautiful city of Juneau, Alaska since 2019. The inspiration for my artwork has always been intertwined with my love of nature and witchcraft. My studio (aka half of our garage) has ocean views while being surrounded by trees. I’m very lucky to be living somewhere where you can really connect back to the earth. I often include symbols from my pagan beliefs and from the wildlife that’s around me into my designs.
I’m currently selling at local art fairs around Juneau and plan on opening on online shop soon. You can follow me on Instagram and/or subscribe with your email to get the latest updates on my sales and projects!
